Privacy policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026. Imagine Downloader ("the extension") is an unofficial browser extension for Grok Imagine. It is not affiliated with SpaceXAI / SpaceXSI.
Summary
- The extension does not collect, sell, or transmit personal data to the developer or any third party.
- There is no developer server, no analytics, no telemetry, no ads, and no remotely loaded code.
- All processing happens in your browser. Files are saved to your own Downloads folder.
What the extension accesses
Only when you click a button in its popup on a grok.com tab, the extension:
- Reads the Grok Imagine thread you have open: the page's content (image/video elements, image alt text, page description) and the thread's data from grok.com's own endpoints (for example the conversation's responses and post details). These requests go only to grok.com and use your existing grok.com sign-in in the browser. The extension never sees or stores your password.
- Observes grok.com's own network responses inside the open page to pick up prompt text and media links for the posts in that thread.
- If enabled ("Visit posts for missing prompts"), briefly switches between posts inside the same thread in that tab to read prompts that are not otherwise available.
- Downloads the thread's image and video files from Grok's media hosts and writes prompt
.mdfiles, anindex.md, and, if enabled, a debug.jsonintoDownloads/GrokImagine/.
What is stored, and where
| Data | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Current run state (progress, the thread's media links and prompts collected so far) | Browser session storage, on your device | Cleared when the browser closes, on Force reset, or when the next run starts |
| Popup preferences (toggles, media mode) and the file names from the last run (so "Save this post's prompt" can match them) | Browser local extension storage, on your device | Until you remove the extension or clear its data |
| Downloaded media, prompt files, optional debug file | Your Downloads folder | Until you delete them |
None of this is sent anywhere by the extension.
Permissions and why they are needed
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
activeTab | Work with the grok.com tab you are on when you use the popup. |
scripting | Re-attach the extension's script to that tab if the page reloads during a run. |
downloads | Save media and prompt files to your Downloads folder. |
storage | Keep run progress and your popup preferences on your device (see above). |
Host access: https://grok.com/*, https://*.grok.com/* | Read the open thread and its data from grok.com, and run only on grok.com pages. |
Third parties
The extension talks only to grok.com and Grok's media hosts, the same services your browser already uses when you view the thread. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies. This website has no analytics or third-party scripts.
Children
The extension is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
